The story tells of the middle years of a couple who are trying to manage through life while coping with schizophrenia in the husband. After the introduction, the story begins when they are about 50 years old, well-educated and equipped for successful careers were it not for the affliction of mental illness. Both are people of faith who display the confidence and peace that comes from trust in a living God.
